Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenlerinin Gözünden Dersleri ve Meslekleri (Sakarya Örneği)

Abstract:

Bu çalışma beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenlerinin derslerine ve mesleklerine ilişkin algılarını, beklentilerini, yaşadıkları sorunları ve çözüm önerilerini ortaya koymak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Nitel araştırma yönteminin kullanıldığı bu araştırmanın desenini olgu bilim oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmaya 2017-2018 güz döneminde Sakarya ili Merkez ilçede farklı ortaokullar ve liselerde görev yapmakta olan 20 öğretmen katılmıştır. Veriler odak grup görüşmeleri ile toplanmıştır. Veriler tümevarım analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Çalışmada katılımcılar mesleklerini “okulun her şeyi olmak” şeklinde tanımlamışlardır. Katılımcılar okullarda beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmeninden en önemli beklentinin “disiplin ve düzenin sağlanması” olduğuna dikkat çekmişler ve en güçlü yönlerini “iletişim”, en zayıf yönlerini ise “alan bilgisi eksikliği” olarak ifade etmişlerdir. Öğretmenler yaşadıkları sorunlar arasında “üniversitelerde verilen eğitiminin yetersizliği, okul yönetimlerinin derse bakış açısı, öğrencilerin derse katılmak istememeleri, okullarda spor salonu olmaması ve malzeme eksikliğini” belirtmişlerdir. Bu sorunların çözümü için beden eğitimi ve spor dersine ilişkin politikaların geliştirilmesi, okul idaresinin ve diğer branş öğretmenlerinin dersi daha fazla desteklemeleri gerektiğini ifade etmişlerdir. Sonuç olarak, yapılan çalışmada beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenleri mesleklerini isteyerek seçip, mesleklerini son derece önemli görmelerine rağmen mesleklerini istenilen şekilde yapabilmek için aldıkları eğitimin yetersiz olduğunu ve kendilerini geliştirme ihtiyacı içinde oldukları belirtmişlerdir.

Physical Education and Sports Teachers' Lessons and Professions (Sakarya Example)

Abstract:

This study is aimed at revealing the perceptions, expectations, problems and solutions of body training and sports teachers about their lessons and professions. The model of this research method used is factual science. The research was conducted by 20 teachers working in different secondary schools and high schools in Sakarya or Central district in the 2017-2018 year period. The data is collected through group discussions. The data is analyzed by analyzers. In the study, participants defined their professions as "to be everything in the school". Participants pointed out that the most important expectation from physical education and sports teachers in schools was "providing discipline and order" and expressed their strongest aspects as "communication" and their weakest aspects as "the lack of field knowledge". The problems that teachers experience include "the lack of education given at universities, the class perspective of school governments, the disability of students to attend classes, the lack of gyms in schools, and the lack of material." To solve these problems, the development of the policies regarding body education and sports courses, the school administration and other branch teachers need to further support the course. As a result, in the study, body training and sports teachers willingly choose their professions, and even though they consider their professions extremely important, the training they receive is insufficient to be able to do their professions in the desired way and they need to improve themselves.

This study was carried out to reveal the perceptions, expectations, problems and solutions of physical education and sports teachers about their courses and professions. Qualitative research methods and phenomenology design were used in this research. 20 physical education and sport teachers working in different secondary and high schools participated in Sakarya provience central distrinct in the fall semester of 2017-2018. The data were collected by focus group interviews. Data were analyzed by inductive analysis. In the study, the participants defined their profession as “to be everything in the school”. Participants pointed out that the most important expectation from physical education and sport teachers in schools is “to provide discipline and order” and they expressed their strongest features as “communication” and their weaknesses as “lack of field knowledge”. The teachers stated the problems encountered as “the inadequency of education given at universities, the viewpoint of school administrations to the couses, unwillingness of the children to attend classes, the lack of sports hall and lack of materials”. To solve these problems, the teachers stated that the policies related to physical education and sports course should be developed, the school administration and other branch teachers should support the course more and the school administration should make good planning. As a result, physical education and sports teachers stated that they chose their profession willingly, and although they see their professions as very important, they stated that their education is insufficient and they need to improve themselves.
