Abstract:

The aim of this study is to reveal the relationship between the social gender role attitudes of students studying at the university and the levels of life satisfaction and aggression. In the framework of social gender concepts and theories, the study used “Social gender roles attitude scale”, “Life scale” and “Buss-Perry Aggression scale”. The survey, which used the scan model, included 529 people studying at the University of Army at the bachelor’s level. In this study, using the simple random sampling technique, the data was analyzed with SPSS in a computer environment. The analysis of the data has taken advantage of visual statistics, Pearson correlation ratio and multi-variant regression analysis. The findings found that the highest average of students received from equal-sex roles, but their dimensional levels towards their traditional attitudes were at a level that would not be reduced. Students' life satisfaction and aggression levels have been determined as medium, and there is no meaningful relationship between general gender role attitudes and life satisfaction levels. But it has been found that there is a negative relationship between the social sex subdimensions of the female sex roles and the life satisfaction levels, though small. Similarly, a very low negative relationship has been established between the general social gender roles and the general levels of aggression. According to the results of the multiple regression analysis, women’s gender roles, gender roles in marriage, and the dimensions of traditional gender roles have a significant impact on the level of aggression. On the contrary, equal gender roles, male gender roles dimensions have not been observed to have a significant impact on aggression.
