Amaç: Bu araştırma hasta güvenliği kapsamında akılcı ilaç kullanımında annelerin tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Bu araştırma Türkiye’nin kuzeyinde yer alan bir üniversite hastanesinde Mayıs-Haziran 2019 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilmiş olup örneklemi çocuğu çocuk servislerinde yatan 326 anne oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak, Tanımlayıcı Bilgi Formu ve Akılcı İlaç Kullanımına Yönelik Ebeveyn Tutum Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde sayı, yüzde, ortalama, standart sapma, ortanca ve tek yönlü varyans analizi testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Annelerin % 36.5’i 26-30 yaş arası ve %28.8’i lise mezunu olduğu bulunmuştur. Katılımcıların % 84’ü reçetesiz ilaç kullandığı ve % 65.3’ünün daha çok ağrı kesici ve ateş düşürücü ilaçları çocuklarına verdikleri saptanmıştır. Annelerin akılcı ilaç kullanımına yönelik tutum ölçeği toplam puanı 153.43±28.70 bulunmuştur. Annelerin eğitim durumlarının, akılcı ilaç kullanımına yönelik ebeveyn tutumlarını etkilediği görülmüştür (p<0.05). Sonuç: Annelerin çoğunluğunun reçetesiz ilaç kullandığı ve daha çok ağrı kesici ve ateş düşürücü ilaçları çocuklarına verdikleri saptanmıştır. Üniversite mezunu olan annelerin akılcı ilaç kullanım tutumlarının yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Hasta güvenliğini sağlamada, hemşirelerin, annelerin akılcı ilaç kullanımı konusunda bilgilendirme faaliyetlerini yaygınlaştırılması önerilir.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to determine the attitudes of mothers in the use of reasonable medications in the context of patient safety. Method: This study was carried out in a university hospital in northern Turkey between May-June 2019 and the sample was made by 326 mothers who found their child in child services. As a data collection tool, the Identifying Information Form and the Parental Attitude Measurement towards the Intellectual Drug Use have been used. In the assessment of the data, the number, percentage, average, standard deviation, median and one-way variance analysis tests were used. Results: 36.5% of mothers were between 26 and 30 years old and 28.8% were high school graduates. 84 percent of participants used prescription-free drugs and 65 percent. Three of them were found to give their children more pain-related and fever-related drugs. The scale of attitude towards the reasonable drug use of mothers was a total score of 153.43±28.70. It has been shown that the educational conditions of mothers have influenced the parents’ attitudes towards the reasonable use of drugs (p<0.05). The result: it has been found that most mothers use prescription-free drugs and more give their children pain remedies and fever remedies. It has been determined that mothers who have graduated from the university have a high mental attitude of drug use. To ensure the safety of the patient, it is recommended that nurses, mothers, spread their information activities on the reasonable use of the drug.

Characteristics Information Form and Parental Attitude Scale towards Rational Drug Use were used as data collection tool. Number, percentage, average, standard deviation, mean and one way variance analysis test were used to evaluate the data. Results: It was found that 36.5% of the patients were between 26 and 30 years of age and 28.8% were high school graduates. It was found that 84% of the participants used drugs without prescription and 65.3% gave mostly pain killers and antipyretic drugs to their children. Mothers’ average Attitude Scale towards Rational Drug Use score was found as 153.43±28.70. It was found that educational status of mothers affected their parental attitude towards rational drug use (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was found that most of the mothers used drugs without prescription and they mostly gave pain killers and antipyretic drugs to their children. University graduate mothers were found to have high rational drug use attitudes. In ensuring patient safety, it is recommended for nurses to generalize informing activities about mothers’ rational drug use.
