İnsanın varlığa anlam verme çabası olan teknoloji günümüzde hayatın her alanına sirayet eden çok yönlü etkileriyle başta felsefe olmak üzere birçok disiplin için problematik bir alandır. Söz konusu problematik alandan hareket eden bu makale teknolojik gelişmelerin insanlık tarihinde gerçek bir ilerleme kabul edilip edilmeyeceğini soruşturmaktadır. Makalede ilerlemeci tarih anlayışının iddiaları teknoloji ve değer bağlamında tetkik edilerek teknolojinin değer yüküne vurgu yapılırken aynı zamanda bir kültür ve değer varlığı olan insan için ilerlemenin sadece teknik ve nicel gelişmelerden ibaret olmadığı mütalaa edilmektedir. Makalenin sonunda teknolojik ilerlemenin insanlık için bir ilerleme imkânı sunmakla birlikte her teknolojik gelişmenin tarihte bir ilerleme anlamına gelmediği sonucuna varılmıştır.
Technology, which is the effort of man to understand the existence, is a problematic field for many disciplines, primarily philosophy, with its diversified effects on all areas of life today. This article, moving from the problematic field, investigates whether technological developments are recognised as a real progress in human history. The article emphasizes the value burden of technology by examining the claims of advanced history in the context of technology and value, while it also states that progress for the human being with a culture and value is not just technical and quantitative developments. At the end of the article, the technological progress offers an opportunity for humanity to progress, but it is concluded that not every technological progress means progress in history.
Technology, which is the effort of human beings to give meaning to existence, is a problematic area for many disciplines, especially philosophy, with its multifaceted effects that spread to all areas of life today. Starting from this problematic area, this article investigates whether technological developments can be accepted as a real progress in human history. In the article, the claims of the progressive theory of history are examined in the context of technology and value, emphasizing the value load of technology. At the same time, it is considered that progress does not consist only of technical and quantitative developments for human beings, who are also a cultural and value asset. At the end of the article, it is concluded that although technological progress provides an opportunity for progress for humanity, not every technological development means progress in history.
