Abstract:

Purpose: The research has been carried out with the aim of evaluating the patient safety cultures of nurses who work in hospitals in the center of Manisa province,Destination-Method: This research is a detective and cutting-edge type of research. The universe of the research consists of a total of 904 nurses working in the hospitals located in the Manisa province center. 603 nurses accepted to participate in the study. The data of the study, "Personal Information Form" and "Patient Safety Culture Scale" were collected between March 2014 and April 2014. In the analysis of the data, the percentage and arithmetic average, ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis variance analysis were used.The results: The average age of the nurses involved in the study is 33.68±6.60. 51.7 percent of nurses are graduates, 33.5 percent work in university hospitals, 34 percent work in internal units and 68.5 percent work as service nurses. In the study, nurses' patient safety culture scale total score average is 2.81±0.40. The low-dimensional staff’s training is 2.88±0.54, the low-dimensional staff’s training is 2.77±0.52, and the unpredictable incident and error reporting is 2.77±0.52. The nurses, the patient safety culture perception, the average score and the civic state, the hospital they work, the year of work, the unit they work, and the other variables have not found any meaningful relationship between them. This study found that nurses’ patient safety cultural perceptions were above the middle level.
