Bu araştırmanın amacı, web 2.0 araçlarından biri olan Voki’nin Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenenlerin konuşma motivasyonlarına ve konuşma öz yeterlik algılarına etkisini incelemektir. Araştırmada nicel ve nitel yaklaşımların bir arada kullanıldığı karma desen türlerinden açımlayıcı sıralı desen tercih edilmiştir. Çalışmanın katılımcılarını Türkiye’nin güneyinde yer alan bir devlet üniversitesinin Türkçe Öğretim Merkezinde yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğrenen B2 düzeyinde 48 öğrenci (25 deney, 23 kontrol grubu) oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Konuşma Motivasyonu Ölçeği, Konuşma Öz Yeterlik Algı Ölçeği ve yarı yapılandırılmış Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır. 6 hafta süren uygulamalar boyunca deney grubundaki konuşma derslerinde Voki uygulaması kullanılmıştır. Kontrol grubunda ise teknoloji tabanlı herhangi bir web 2.0 aracı kullanılmamış, ders kitabındaki etkinlikler uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada toplanan nicel verilerin analizinde Z testi (bağımsız gruplar için), Wilcoxon testi (bağımlı gruplar için), Kruskal Wallis testi kullanılmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla toplanan nitel verilerin analizinde ise betimsel analiz ve içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda Voki uygulamasının deney grubundaki öğrencilerin konuşma motivasyonları ve öz yeterlilik algıları üzerinde olumlu etki yarattığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca deney grubunda yer alan öğrencilerin Voki’nin konuşma becerilerini geliştirdiğine yönelik olumlu görüşlere sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Bu açıdan özellikle yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde öğrencilerin konuşma becerilerini geliştirmek için Voki gibi web 2.0 tabanlı teknoloji uygulamalarının kullanılması önerilmektedir.
The aim of this research is to examine the effect of Voki, one of the web 2.0 tools, on the speaking motivations and speaking self-efficacy perceptions of those who learn Turkish as a foreign language. Explanatory sequential design, one of the mixed design types in which quantitative and qualitative approaches are used together, was preferred in the research. The participants of the study consist of 48 students (25 experimental, 23 control group) at B2 level who learn Turkish as a foreign language in the Turkish Teaching Center of a state university located in the south of Turkey. In the study, Speech Motivation Scale, Speaking Self-Efficacy Perception Scale and semi-structured interview form were used as data collection tools. Voki application was used in the speaking lessons of the experimental group during the 6-week applications. In the control group, no technology-based web 2.0 tools were used. Z test (for independent groups), Wilcoxon test (for dependent groups), Kruskal Wallis test were used in the analysis of the quantitative data collected in the study. Descriptive analysis and content analysis were used in the analysis of the qualitative data collected through the semi-structured interview form. As a result of the research, it was determined that the Voki application had a positive effect on the speaking motivation and self-efficacy perceptions of the students in the experimental group. In addition, it was determined that the students in the experimental group had positive opinions that Voki improved their speaking skills.
