Abstract:

As psychiatric problems play the role in the beginning or inflammation of many skin diseases, chronic dermatozes also prepare the ground for psychiatric problems. This study was aimed at exploring the relationship between skin diseases and psychiatric problems in our clinic. The 892 patients in the Dermatology Clinic consulted the 591 files requested retrospective examination. The psychiatric consultation was evaluated by recording psychiatric diagnoses and dermatological diagnoses in 156 patients requested. The most consultation (16.2%) was requested from the psychiatric clinic and psychiatric pathology was detected in 91.7% of patients. The most common diagnoses were depression (48.1%) and common anxiety disorder (31.4%). In the urethral group, 50 percent of patients with dermatoz were diagnosed with depression, 37 percent with common anxiety disorder, 40 percent with inflammatory dermatoz cases with depression, and 29,5 percent with common anxiety disorder. As a result; in patients found to have psychological problems in the dermatology clinic, the rate of psychiatric disorders (91.7%) was quite high. Collaboration with the psychiatric clinic in the diagnosis and treatment of psychocutanous diseases will positively affect both the success of treatment and the quality of life of the patient.
