Üç semavi dinin kutsal merkezlerinden birisi olan Kudüs tarih boyunca birçok devlet ve millet tarafından idare edilmiştir. Daha önceki Müslüman devletler için sahip olduğu önem Osmanlılar zamanında da devam etmiştir. Bu bağlamda bu çalışmanın konusu Osmanlıların büyük önem verdiği bir şehrin Osmanlı tarihçilerinin zihninde nasıl yer ettiğidir. Bu amaçla Osmanlı kronik yazarlarının Kudüs’e dair izlenimleri ve imgelemi incelenmiştir. Bu imgelemde Osmanlı kroniklerinde fetih öncesi ve sonrası Kudüs'e yüklenen anlamlar farklılık arz etmektedir. Fethi öncesi kroniklerde iki kutsal yerin, Kudüs (Beytü'l-Makdis/Haremü'ş-Şerif) ve Ayasofya'nın birbirleriyle olan maddi ve manevi ilişkileri konu edinilmektedir. Bu ilişki açıklanırken Osmanlı padişahlarının hâkim ve hadimliğine dikkat çekilmektedir. Fetih sonrası kroniklerde ise güçlü şekilde Osmanlı padişahlarının doğu siyasetine paralel şekilde idare ettiği Kudüs şehrine hizmetleri anlatılmaktadır. Kudüs'ün dini önemi, adaletin tesisinde başrol oynayan kadıların derecelerinde de etkili olurken, bunlar tevcihât haberlerine yansımıştır. Kroniklere yansıdığı şekliyle Kudüs ve çevresinde önemli hizip bedeviler idi. Kadılar hem gayrimüslimleri hem de Müslümanları bedevilerden korumak için çaba sarf ediyordu. Ayrıca Hıristiyanların kendi aralarındaki dini tartışmalar devletin siyaseten müdahalesini gerektiriyordu. Buna paralel şekilde doğu sorununun odak noktası olan Kudüs, Osmanlı devletinin zayıflamasına paralel şekilde siyasi ve dini çatışmaların merkezi olmuştur.
Jerusalem, one of the holy centers of the three Semavi religions, has been managed by many states and nations throughout history. The importance for the former Muslim states continued in the Ottoman time. In this context, the topic of this study is how a city of great importance of the Ottoman historians is placed in the minds. For this purpose, the impressions and images of the Ottoman chronic writers about Jerusalem have been studied. In this image, the meanings charged to Jerusalem before and after the conquest in the Ottoman chronicles are different. In the pre-Fethi chronicles, the two holy places, Jerusalem (Beethoven-Makdis/Haremus-Sheriff) and Ayasophia, are subject to the material and spiritual relations between each other. When this relationship is revealed, the attention is given to the judgment and judgment of the Ottoman princes. In the post-Fatih chronicles, however, the services of the city of Jerusalem, which the Ottoman princes in a strong way managed in parallel with the eastern politics, are described. The religious importance of Jerusalem is also influential in the degrees of women who play the main role in the establishment of justice, and they are reflected in the news of the Tevezhat. The way it reflected the chronicles was important Bedeevs in Jerusalem and around it. The women were trying to protect both non-Muslims and Muslims from the bedevies. Moreover, the religious disputes between Christians and others required the state’s political intervention. Parallelly, Jerusalem, the center of the Eastern issue, has become the center of political and religious conflicts parallel to the weakening of the Ottoman state.
