Abstract:

Tourism is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing sectors today. Congress tourism, which is considered one of the most important types of tourism, also plays a major role in this development.In this study, it was seen that Van congress tourism has many advantages in terms of implementation. It has been understood that destination attractiveness, which is one of the elements that create this advantage, is also a preference factor that academicians mostly attach importance to. The province of Van has countless historical, cultural, natural and artificial riches that make it an attractive destination.On the other hand, the number of accommodation establishments that are adequately equipped to host large congresses should be increased. The qualifications of the personnel working in the congress organizations of these businesses should also be taken into consideration. For this purpose, training seminars should be organized by congress experts or expert academic circles. In the study, the perceptions of hotels and agencies regarding Van's congress tourism potential were discussed. As a result of the study, it was revealed that the facilities and infrastructure in Van and the destination are partially sufficient and congress tourism is thought to be partially important for Van's tourism. When the perceptions of businesses regarding facilities and infrastructure are evaluated, it becomes clear that they think there are problems in the infrastructure.
