Hadislerin Hz. Peygamber döneminde yazılıp yazılmadığı hususu Müslüman alimler tarafından tartışıldığı gibi Oryantalistlerin de yakından ilgilendiği bir mesele olmuştur. Kuşkusuz oryantalistlerin hadis ilmi ile bu kadar yakından ilgilenmelerinin arka planında, hadis / sünnet rivâyetlerinin İslam toplumu içerisinde Kur’ân’dan sonra ikinci temel kaynak olarak kabul edilmesi ve Müslümanların hayatını şekillendirmede belirleyici bir rol oynaması vardır. İslam hakkında araştırma yapan oryantalistlerin hemen hemen tamamı hadisle ilgili konulara özellikle de hadislerin yazılması meselesine az çok temas etmişlerdir. Bu çalışma Batı dünyasında hadis ile ilgili oryantalistik düşünceyi şekillendiren araştırmacıların hadislerin yazılması konusundaki fikirlerini ele almayı ve değerlendirmeyi hedeflemektedir. Çalışmamızda içerik analizine başvurulmuş ve hadisle ilgili Batı dünyasında etkili olan oryantalistlerin hadislerin yazılmasına yönelik tespitleri tahlil ve değerlendirilmeye tabi tutulmuştur. Bu incelemenin sonucunda hadis konusunda araştırmalar yapan oryantalistlerden, hadislerin hâfızaya yardımcı olmak amacıyla şahsi ders notları şeklinde de olsa erken dönemde yazılı olarak kaydedildiğini kabul eden Alois Sprenger ve Muslim Studies’te dile getirdiği ilk görüşü esas alınırsa Ignaz Goldziher, Nabia Abbott, Harald Motzki ve Schoeler gibi araştırmacılar olduğu görülmüştür. Ancak Goldziher’in daha sonra rivâyetlerin erken dönemde yazıldığına dair fikrini değiştirerek aksi yönde bazı iddialar ortaya attığı da bilinmektedir. Buna karşılık Abbott’un düşüncelerinin, Müslüman bilginlerin genel kabulüne en yakın kabul edilebilecek nitelikte olduğu söylenebilir.
by Hz. The question of whether it was written or not in the period of the Prophet was a matter of closely concerned by the Orientalists as discussed by Muslim scientists. Unfortunately, in the background of the orientalistic so close concern with the knowledge of the hadith, the hadith/sünnet rivages are considered as the second basic source after the Qur’an in the Islamic society and play a decisive role in shaping the lives of Muslims. Almost all the Orientalists who research about Islam have little contact with the issues related to the hadith, especially the question of writing the hadiths. This study aims to address and evaluate the ideas of the researchers who form the orientalistic thought of the Hadith in the Western world about the writing of the Hadiths. In our study, the content analysis was applied and the findings of the Orientalists, who have influenced the western world in connection with the hadith, for the writing of the hadiths were assessed and evaluated. According to this study, the first opinion of the Orientalists who conducted research on the hadith, Alois Sprenger and Muslim Studies, who accepted that the hadith was recorded in writing in the early period in the form of personal lesson notes in order to help the hadith, was found that there were researchers such as Ignaz Goldziher, Nabia Abbott, Harald Motzki and Schoeler. However, it is also known that Goldziher later changed his view that the Reviews were written in the early period and made some claim in the opposite direction. In contrast, Abbott’s opinions can be said to be the closest to the general acceptance of Muslim scientists.
The issue of whether the hadiths were recorded in writing during the time of the Prophet has been a subject of great interest for both Muslim scholars and Orientalists. Undoubtedly, the reason why the Orientalists take such a keen interest in the science of hadith is due to the fact that the hadith/Sunnah narrations are accepted as the second main source after the Qur'an and play a decisive role in shaping the lives of Muslims in Muslim society. Almost all Orientalists who engaged in Islamic researches have dealt with some aspects of the hadith, especially their recording in writing, to some extent, This study aims to evaluate the views of Western researcher who appear to have shaped Orientalist thought on hadith, specifically on the issue of hadith recording. This study aims to utilize content analysis as its method and analyze the findings of the prominent Western Orientalists who have specialized in the area of hadiths, particularly with regards to the writing of hadiths. The study has shown that some Orientalists have acknowledged that in the early period, hadiths were recorded in writing, even if in the form of personal lecture notes, to help remembering. These researchers include Alois Sprenger, Ignaz Goldziher -according to his initial views in Muslim Studies-, Nabia Abbott, Harald Motzki, and Schoeler. However, it is also known that Goldziher later changed his mind and argued in the opposite direction, claiming that the narrations were not written down in the early period. On the other hand, it can be said that Abbott's ideas are in line with the views commonly held by many Muslim scholars.
