Bu çalışmada Türkiye’deki medya yayınlarının kültürel konularda cinsiyet rollerine yönelik nasıl bir toplumsal algı yarattığının ortaya çıkartılması ve sonuçların geleneksel cinsiyet rollerine yönelik tutumlar ile karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında farklı sosyoekonomik seviyelerden seçilen 32 kişi ile 4 farklı grupta odak grup tartışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre medyanın (özellikle dizi, film ve reklamlarda) cinsiyet eşitliğinin güçlendirilmesine yönelik desteklerde negatif bir rol oynadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Medyada temsil edilen cinsiyet rolleri bireysel özelliklere ve toplumda oluşan geleneksel ve sosyal değerler üzerine kurulmuştur. Katılımcılar medya yayınlarında eğitim ve sosyal sınıfı ne olursa olsun iş bölümünün ve mesleki rollerin cinsiyete göre belirlendiğini belirtmiştir. Katılımcılar tarafından, her ne kadar mevcut durumda olumsuz etkileri olsa da medyanın cinsiyet rollerine ilişkin farkındalığı arttırmada önemli bir katkısının olabileceği belirtilmiştir.
in this study, how media broadcasts in turkey have created a social perception for sex roles in cultural matters and aimed to be met with attitudes to traditional sex roles of the results and the research that was selected from different socioeconomic levels in 4 different groups of discussion groups were conducted according to research findings, the conclusion that the media plays a negative role in supporting gender equality especially in series of films and advertisements, was established on the traditional and social values that are formed in the individual characteristics and society as well as the participants of the media broadcasts, regardless of the educational and social class, and how important sex roles can be determined by the negative role of the role of the media
This study aims to reveal the social perception created by gender roles in the media and to compare the results with traditional attitudes towards gender roles, including the cultural issues in Turkey. Within the scope of the research, focus group interviews were conducted with 32 people selected from different socioeconomic levels in 4 different groups. According to the research findings, it was concluded that the media (especially in TV series, movies and advertisements) plays a negative role in ensuring gender equality. Gender roles represented in the media are based on individual characteristics, traditional and social values formed in society. Participants, regardless of their education and social classes, stated that the division of business and professional roles in media broadcasts are determined by gender. They also claimed that although the media has negative effects in the current situation, it can significantly contribute to raise awareness about gender roles.
