Abstract:

ABSTRACT The complex is located within the borders of Urgup District of Nevşehir Province. The current name of the settlement is Taşkınpaşa also known as Damsa in sources. Although the exact construction date of the complex built by Emir Taşhun is not known, however, it is stated in historical sources that it was built in the 14th century. Ornaments, which are a complementary element of architectural structures, present an integrity with the buildings. For this reason, we need to protect not only our buildings but also the decoration program on them, keep them alive and transfer them to future generations. The restorations made for this purpose have carried our architectural works to the future. It can be stated that in a considerable number of restoration implementations, the works look like their old state rather than carrying them to the future. Similar errors have encountered in the restoration of mosque and hanigah that have been made recently. In our study, only the faulty restored decorations in the complex will be examined. Where these mistakes were made will be examined in the presence of drawings and photographs, and the original state of decorations will be revealed with old photographs.
