Hakkari has become an area of settlement for mankind since the earliest centuries; it has hosted many cultures and civilizations, and become the cradle of various religions, civilizations and identities. This city gets the attention of many people through its natural beauty and wealth. One can see the traces of pre-Islamic Hakkari culture mostly on rock paintings, castle ornaments, rock tombs, steles and dirhes A majority of extant written culture works, on the other hand, emerged in the early Islamic period. The sources of the written Kurdish Literature were composed in the Kurdish madrasahs constituted during this period. After the establishment and expansion of the Principality of Hakkari, the madrasah based Kurdish culture and literature showed more progress. The developments in the area of Kurdish culture and literature centered in this principality influence other areas where Kurdish people live. Masterpieces of the classic Kurdish Literature, especially those written in the Kurmanji dialect, were composed during the period of principalities. It should be emphasized that the Principality of Hakkari plays a central and pioneering role in this cultural and literary breakthrough. Literary personalities from this center such as Batei, Pertew, Xani, Arwasi and so on. became the representative of the Kurdish literature of this region and also became the founder of a literary tradition. This study aims to investigate the Kurdish Literature during the period of the Principality of Hakkari. The aim of this study is to identify the foundations and sources of classical Kurdish literature in the region of Hakkari. Also review the classical literature of this region and its representatives.
