Abstract:

The main purpose of narrative that approaches the narrative texts as a means of communication is to reveal the relationship between the elements that make up the narrative. The XX. In the second half of the century, many works on the narrative science that evolved in Europe and America have been drawn up and several methods of study have been proposed. French thinker Gérard Genette, in his work, The Tale of the Story: A Tale of the Method, demonstrates that narrative science can be applied not only to short stories, but also to novels. The theory he developed applies to Marcel Proust's novel series In The Track of Lost Time. It is also possible to apply the theory of the Tale, which appears to be developed for the analysis of the novel. In Genette's theory, a narrative is aimed at learning the process of the text and the varied dimensions of the narrative. In this context, it is possible to understand how Hasan Ali Toptaş's Theory of A Smile's Identity in the story, by applying Genette's theory in the narrative and narrative point of view, reveals a picture of the story. The purpose of this article is to give the main lines of Gérard Genette's Tales Theory and to study Hasan Ali Toptaş's story called A Smile Identity according to the Tales Theory.
