Abstract:

The physical surroundings of the traditional settlements that cover settlements and site areas with a natural, cultural, historical and archaeological character, the social, cultural, economic, political components give the city identity qualities in different dimensions. The settlement history, from prehistoric periods to today, is an important settlement because it houses many cultural heritage areas within it. In the framework of the research, Harput’s natural and cultural landscape characteristics are promoted and preserved by the problems and possibilities, aimed at evaluating in the framework of the ecosystem. For this purpose, national and international approaches to cultural landscapes and conservation have been developed and the GZOT Analysis direction has been used to identify Harput’s ecosystem potential, identify the internal factors/strong and weak aspects of the area and external factors/options and threats. Considering the outcomes of the GZOT analysis carried out for the work area, a urban design project for the Harput traditional settlement tissue was prepared, the targets of the Harput Ecosystem were emphasized and the protection recommendations were developed.
