Temel insan duyguları arasında yer alan öfke ve nefret, zaman zaman birbiriyle karıştırılmaktadır. Ancak bu olumsuz duyguların ortaya çıkış sebebi, hissedilme süreleri gibi konularda aralarında farklılık bulunduğu bir gerçektir. Duyguların birbiriyle karıştırılmasının doğal bir sonucu olarak ilgili anlam alanlarına giren sözcük ve ifadeler de birbirinin yerine kullanılabilmektedir. Öfke, genel olarak olumsuz bir durum karşısında kişide oluşan sinirlilik hâli şeklinde ifade edilebilir. Nefret ise çok daha yoğun bir duygu olarak başkalarının kötülüğünü istemeye varan bir tiksinme, iğrenme hâlidir. Bu çalışmanın konusu, insanlık tarihi kadar eski olan bu duyguların Türk dilinin tarihî dönemlerinden biri olan Karahanlı Türkçesinde izini sürmektir. Giriş niteliğinde öfke ve nefretin temel duygular arasındaki yerine değinilecek ve bunların sözlük anlamları üzerinde durulacaktır. Ardından Karahanlı Türkçesi metinlerinde konuyla ilgili tespit edilen isim ve eylemler ayrı ayrı açıklanacaktır. Bununla birlikte sözcük ve ifadelerin Atebetü’l-Hakâyık, Kutadgu Bilig ve Divanu Lugâti’t-Türk gibi dönem eserlerinde hangi amaç doğrultusunda kullanıldığının sorgulanması amaçlanmaktadır. Sonuç bölümünde bulgular değerlendirilerek tespit edilen sözcükler sahip olduğu anlamlara göre sınıflandırılacaktır.
Anger and hatred, basic human emotions, are often confused with each another. However, there are key differences between these two negative emotions, such as the cause of their emergence and the duration of the feelings. As a natural consequence of conflating and mixing emotions, the words and expressions attached to these emotions can also be used interchangeably. In general, anger is a state of irritability that develops in a person in the face of a negative situation. On the other hand, hate is a state of disgust, which is a much more intense emotion, and amounts to wishing the evil of others. This paper aims to trace these feelings, which are as old as human history, in Karakhanid Turkish, one of the historical periods of the Turkish language. As an introduction, I will dwell on the place of anger and hatred among basic emotions and their lexical meanings, followed by an evaluation of the nouns and verbs associated with these feelings in Karakhanid Turkish texts. After these steps, I intend to determine the purpose for which these expressions were used in the works of the period, such as Atebetü’l-Hakâyık, Kutadgu Bilig (Wisdom of Royal Glory), and Dīwān Lugāt al-Türk. In conclusion, I will evaluate the findings and classify the words according to their meanings.
