Abstract:

Non-school teaching, which emphasizes the process of teaching the teaching process outside the school and the provision of experience-based learning opportunities; is a multidisciplinary concept. Planned by associating with different course achievements in natural or human environments, out-of-school teaching contains a rich content that supports students’ academic development as well as their sensual and intuitive development. Thus, non-school teaching ensures that the cover program, in parallel with the official program, is also functionally presented in schools.This study aims to reveal the views of high school math teachers about the non-school learning environments. In literature, there is a very limited study of mathematics in the teaching of non-school learning environments. It is believed that this work will contribute to literature. Special research methods have been used in research. The study used a semi-configured conversation form consisting of open end questions in the process of data collection. The questions in the form were prepared by the researchers and ended with the opinion of the expert. The study’s work group consists of 20 high school mathematician teachers working in Istanbul. Teachers who participated in the study stated that their out-of-school learning environments were useful, but they encountered difficulties in the implementation process (legal proceedings, financial failures, time problems). Another outcome of the study is that teachers do not have sufficient knowledge about the outside school learning environments. Teachers are advised to be taught in the fields of learning outside the school and encourage teachers to teach outside the school.
