Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the democratic attitudes of primary school managers and classmates. In the study, a visual scan model was used as it was intended to determine the attitudes of primary school managers and classmates in the current way. The universe of study is made up of class teachers and primary school managers who are working in the public schools and private schools located on the European side of Istanbul in the 2017-2018 educational year. His example is 337 class teachers and 107 primary school managers who work in public schools and private schools located in the districts of Bağcılar, Bahçelievler and Bakırköy. The study used the “Personal Information Form” and the “Democratic Attitude Scale” as a data collection tool. The scale data was analyzed with the SPSS 23 program. In the analysis of the data, the Anova test, the T test, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H test were used. The analysis of the data has shown that the democratic attitudes of classmates are not very low, but above the middle. The conclusion has been that the democratic attitudes of class teachers to age, gender, civil status, occupational disability, time of work at school, level of education and the type of school they work do not show a statistically meaningful difference, but that the class teachers working in the Bahçelievler and Bakarköy districts, according to the district in which they work, have a higher democratic attitude than the class teachers working in the Bahçelievler. The primary school leaders’ attitudes were positive and somewhat above the middle level. The conclusion has been that the democratic attitudes of the primary school managers have not shown any significant differences according to gender, age, civil status, vocational age, year of work in the school in which they work, level of education, the type of school in which they work and the district in which they work.
