Abstract:

In this study, the number of lost working days and gender of the occupational accidents occurring in the enterprises with the codes "05 - Coal and Lignite Extraction", "07 - Metal Ore Mining", "08 - Other Mining and Quarrying" and "09 - Mining Supporting Services", which constitute the mining sector in Turkey, Surveillance analysis was performed considering risk factors. Within the scope of the study, the studies carried out within the scope of the standard named Z16.1-1967 used in the mining industry by the United States National Standards Institute (ANSI) were adapted to our country. Between 2012 and 2020, a total of 1,210,926 insured workers were employed in 60,852 workplaces registered with the Social Security Institution (SSI), and it was observed that 11,214 male and 547 female employees were affected in occupational accidents. It was found that insured male employees who had an accident had a total of 1,496,268 days of incapacity, and 5,959 days of incapacity for female insured employees. It has been calculated that for one female insured work accident, 205 male insured work accidents occur and when male insured workers have a work accident, they lose an average of 268.72 days of work compared to female insured workers. Sub-sectors where occupational accidents and lost labor are experienced the most are analyzed one by one on an annual basis, and the measures that can be taken in the prevention of occupational accidents are suggested.
