Aile katılımı, öğrencilerin okul başarısına etki eden en önemli etmenlerden biridir. Öğrencilerin okul başarısı sadece okulda öğretmen-öğrenci etkileşimi sonucunda gerçekleşmemektedir. Ebeveynler de çocuklarına okuldaki etkinlikleri tamamlayıcı nitelikte çok önemli katkılar sunabilirler. Araştırmalar ebeveynlerin okula katılımlarını engelleyen bazı etmenlerin olduğunu göstermektedir. Okul başarısını sağlayabilmek için okuldan veya ailelerden kaynaklanan bu sıkıntıların ortadan kaldırılması gerekmektedir. Bu makalenin amacı, okul-aile iletişimi konusundaki mevcut durumu gözler önüne sermek, iletişim kopukluğunun sebeplerini irdelemek ve sonucunda okul başarısına etki edeceğine inanılan bazı öneriler geliştirmektir.
