Osmanlı donanmasına yardım toplamak amacıyla İstanbul’da kurulan Donanma-yı Osmanî Muavenet-i Milliye Cemiyeti’nin kısa süre içinde ülke genelinde şubeleri açılmıştır. Cemiyetin Trabzon şubesi de, 26 Ocak 1910 tarihinde faaliyetlerine başlamıştır. Bu çalışma, Trabzon Vilayeti sınırlarını kapsamakta olup Vilayet dâhilindeki sancak, kaza ve nahiyelerdeki Donanma Cemiyeti şubelerinin “Trabzon’da Meşveret Gazetesi”ne yansıyan faaliyetlerini içermektedir. Bu doğrultuda Trabzon Vilayeti dâhilinde hem gemi hem de tayyare alınması için faaliyet gösterildiği anlaşılmaktadır. Yardım kampanyası sırasında İttihat ve Terakki Kulübünün şubeleri de aktif bir şekilde Cemiyete destek vermiştir. Vilayet dâhilinde bireysel ya da kurumsal olarak yapılan yardımların yanı sıra, özellikle köylüler aralarında topladıkları paralarla kampanyaya katılmayı vatanî bir vazife addetmişlerdir. Ayrıca devlet memurları da maaşlarının tamamını ya da bir kısmını bağışlamak suretiyle donanmaya katkı-da bulunmak fedakârlığını göstermişlerdir. Bunların yanında tiyatro, müzayede ve konser gibi faaliyetler gerçekleştirilerek gelirleri cemiyete bağışlanmıştır. Çalışmamızda Trabzon şubesinin gelir kaynakları ile merkeze gönderilen miktar hakkında tespit edilebilenler makalenin son kısmında tablolar halinde verilmiştir. Denize kıyısı olan ve donanmanın önemini kavrayan bir şehrin halkı olarak Trabzonlular, bu hassas konuda büyük fedakârlık örneği göstermişlerdir.
For the purpose of gathering assistance to the Ottoman Navy, the Armada-i Ottoman Muavenet-i Millions Association, which was established in Istanbul with the aim of gathering assistance to the Ottoman Navy, has shortly opened branches throughout the country. The Trabzon branch of the community also began its activities on 26 January 1910. This study covers the borders of the province of Trabzon and includes the activities reflected in the "Trabzon's Meşveret Gazette" of the Naval Society's branches in the province of Sancakes, accidents and districts. In this direction, it is clear that within the province of Trabzon both the ship and the tayar were activated to be taken. During the support campaign, the Branches of the Alliance and Terakki Club also actively supported the community. In addition to individual or corporate aid within the province, the countryside, in particular the peasants, have assigned a national duty to participate in the campaign with the money they gather between them. In addition, government officials have shown their sacrifice to contribute to the Navy by giving all or part of their salary. In addition to them, the activities such as theatre, concerts and concerts were carried out and their income was donated to the community. In our study, what can be identified about the income sources of the Trabzon branch and the amount sent to the center was given in tables in the last part of the article. As the people of a city that is on the sea coast and understands the importance of the naval, the Trabzonans have shown a great example of sacrifice in this sensitive matter.
