Background: The mass media have an important role in promoting a profession and in forming the image of the profession. Objectives: The aim of the study is to evaluate the subject by researching how the nursing profession is represented in the cinema and how the nursing identity is adapted to the cinema. Methods: It is a descriptive type of research. In our study, it was evaluated with content analysis how the nursing profession has been represented in the cinema and how the nursing identity is adapted into cinema in eleven Turkish films determined by accessibility criteria. Results: A total of eleven Turkish films and series were reviewed in the study. The nurse appears as the main character in seven of the films examined but the word "nurse" is only taken part in two film titles. While the nurse character often encounters to us as a positive role in the films (8 films) there were films in which it is presented as a negative "bad character". In films, nurses are considered as persons who can not make their own decisions and can not use their professional autonomy; moreover, nursing is often reflected as a profession in which its autonomy is limited and even no, its independent roles are ignored and often shown as a doctor's assistant. It seems that the nursing roles in the films have not been very compatible with contemporary nursing roles and they have not been correctly reflected. In the films, whereas the nurses appear on the screen quite common but they are a complementary role of the related scene. Conclusion: It was observed that nurses are treated with positive and negative different characters and roles in the cinema and can not be properly and adequately reflected in terms of their profession, duty, authority, responsibilities and roles. It was determined that the nurses were reflected on the screen with a gender perspective and were represented on the screen in such a way as to impair the society's view of the profession.
