Amaç: Bu çalışmada Türkiye’nin dünya pazarındaki rekabet gücünün pamuk ve pamuklu dokuma itibariyle belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Materyal ve Yöntem: Çalışmanın ana materyali; UN COMTRADE’den sağlanan pamuk ve pamuklu dokuma ile ilgili dış ticaret verileridir. Veriler kullanılarak Türkiye ve rakip ülkeler için Nispi İhracat Avantajı (RXA), Nispi İthalat Avantajı (RMA), Nispi Ticaret Avantajı (RTA), Açıklanmış Karşılaştırmalı Üstünlükler (RCA), İhracatta Uzmanlaşma (ESI) endeksi hesaplanmıştır. Dünya pazarında meydana gelen değişim ve bu değişimin ardında yatan nedenler ise sabit pazar payı analizi ile açıklanmıştır. Araştırma Bulguları: Türkiye’nin kütlü pamukta rakipleri karşısında bir üstünlüğü söz konusu değildir. Türkiye ele alınan dönemde kardelenmiş pamukta daha avantajlı konuma gelmiştir. RTA endeksi açısından ise ele alınan dönemde sınırlı bir avantaja sahiptir. Pamuklu dokuma açısından sonuçlar incelendiğinde diğer ürünlerden farklı bir durumda olmadığı, rekabet gücünün az olduğu bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Elde edilen sonuçlar incelendiğinde pamukta Türkiye’nin yurtiçi talebini karşılayamadığı için talebin %50’sinden fazlasını ithalat yoluyla karşıladığı bulunmuştur. Türkiye’nin kardelenmemiş pamukta (5201) rekabet gücü yok iken, kardelenmiş pamukta (5203) zayıf derecede üstünlüğü söz konusudur. Pamuklu dokuma açısından da Türkiye’nin zayıf derecede üstünlüğü söz konusudur.
Objective: The objective of this study was to determine Turkey's competitiveness in the world market for cotton and cotton products. Material and Methods: The main material of the study was the data on cotton foreign trade provided from UN COMTRADE. Using the data, relative export advantage (RXA), relative import advantage (RMA), relative trade advantage (RMA), revealed comparative advantages (RCA) with export specialization index (ESI) were calculated for Turkey and competing countries. Constant Market Share Analysis (CMS) was used to explain the change in the world market and the reasons behind this change. Results: In raw cotton Turkey has disadvantages over its competitors. Turkey has become more advantageous in the considered period for carded/combed cotton. In terms of the RTA index, Turkey has a limited advantage. When the results are examined in terms of cotton weaving, it was found that it is not different from other products and has less competitiveness. Conclusion: It was found that 50% of the cotton demand was met through imports, as it could not meet Turkey's domestic demand. While Turkey has no competitiveness in cotton not carded/combed (5201), it has a weak superiority in carded/combed cotton (5203). Turkey also has weak superiority in cotton weaving products.
