Forensic patients coming to a hospital' emergency unit are first examined by physicians, nurses and other health workers of these units. An informed consent approved by the suspect or victim and the decision from a court or judge are essential in order to collect the biological materials for the biological and chemical examinations. In forensic investigations, medical staff should be aware of their legal responsibilities and the importance of their procedures. This situation can provide appropriate collection and prevent the contamination of critical evidence. The objective of this study is to provide information about collection, custody, security, handling and storing of biological samples for medical personnel in emergency units. As a result, medical staff in emergency services who are welltrained about forensic sciences, have been vocationally retrained, supplied with sufficient equipment and have interacted with a Prosecutor of the Republic will produce better results in relation to their responsibilities for forensic incidents.
