Dünyada yakın zamanda birçok kriz yaşanmış, ancak bunların hiçbiri Covid-19 kadar küresel olmamış ekonomileri, insanların yaşamlarını ve alışkanlıklarını etkilememiştir. Milyonlarca kişiye kısa sürede bulaşan Covid-19 virüsü yüzbinlerce insanın ölümüne yol açmıştır. Devletlerin bir kısmı salgına karşı sınırları kapatmak, sokağa çıkma yasağı uygulamak, insanların toplanabileceği alanları kapatmak gibi sert önlemler alırken, bir kısım devletler ise bu konuda daha yumuşak davranmıştır. Önlem alan ülkelerde nüfusa oranla vaka sayıları düşük kalırken daha rahat davranan ülkelerde bu sayı artmıştır. Salgın süresince birçok işyeri zarardan dolayı kapanırken binlerce kişi de işsiz kalmıştır. Bu durum ekonomik bir durgunluk yaşanacağı beklentisini yükseltmiştir. Covid-19 Salgını, sağlık, gıda gibi bazı sektörlerin önemini arttırırken turizm, ulaşım gibi sektörlerin de değerini düşürmüştür. Turizm sektörü savaş, terör, doğal afet, salgın hastalık ve ekonomik kriz dönemlerinde insanlar için zorunlu bir tüketim olmaması sebebiyle en çok etkilenen sektörlerden biri olmuştur. Ulaştırma sektörü ise insanların sokağa çıkma yasağı uygulamalarından veya ülkelerarası ve şehirlerarası seyahat kısıtlamalarından dolayı en çok etkilenen diğer bir sektör olmuştur. Bu çalışmada Covid-19’un ölüm ve vaka sayıları ile salgının en fazla etkilediği turizm ve ulaştırma sektörleri özelinde borsa endeksleri arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın ekonometrik uygulama kısmında, uzun dönemli ilişkiyi test etmek için önce birinci nesil ve ikinci nesil birim kök testleri uygulanmış ardından da ARDL Sınır Testi yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda salgının vaka sayıları ile endeks serileri arasında anlamlı bir ilişki tespit edilemezken, salgındaki ölüm sayıları ile %5 anlamlılık düzeyinde bağımsız değişkenlerin uzun dönemde eşbütünleşik olarak birlikte ters yönde hareket ettiği bulunmuştur. Kısa dönemde ise meydana gelen sapmaların yüzde 0.0004’ünün bir sonraki dönemde düzeltilerek uzun dönem dengesine çok düşük bir hızla ulaştığı tespit edilmiştir.
There have been many crises in the world recently, but none of them has not affected the economies, the lives and habits of people, which have not been as global as Covid-19. The Covid-19 virus, which was transmitted to millions of people, has caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. Some states have taken severe measures, such as closing the boundaries against the epidemic, prohibition of the streets, closing the areas where people can gather, while some states have been more gentle in this regard. This number has increased in countries that take measures while the number of cases remains lower compared to the population. Many of the workplaces were closed due to damage and thousands of people remained unemployed. This has raised the expectation that there will be an economic breakthrough. Covid-19 has increased the importance of some sectors such as health, food, and has also reduced the value of sectors such as tourism, transportation. The tourism sector has been one of the most affected sectors due to the lack of compulsory consumption for people during war, terror, natural disasters, epidemic diseases and economic crisis. The transport sector has been the other sector that has been most affected by people’s prohibition to go to the streets or by national and cross-city travel restrictions. This study examined the relationship between the deaths and cases of Covid-19 and the stock exchanges in the tourism and transport sectors where the epidemic was most affected. In the econometric application part of the study, the first generation and second generation unit root tests were applied to test the long-term relationship and then the ARDL Border Test approach was used. The study found that there was no meaningful relationship between the number of cases of the epidemic and the index series, while the number of deaths in the epidemic and the level of 5% significance found that independent variables, along the long term, were combined together in the opposite direction. In the short period, 0,0004 percent of the deviations occurred in the following period was corrected and reached the long-term balance at a very low rate.
