Abstract:

The process of socialization is effective in the formation of attitudes regarding gender roles. In this process, the individual’s environment is an important variable. It is important to determine the attitude of the pre-school teachers candidates to interact with children in the process of socialization. According to this importance, the work was carried out with the aim of determining the attitudes of pre-school teachers candidates towards social gender roles. This study was conducted using the scan model with a total of 165 teachers candidates who are studying in the first and fourth classes, selected by the method of sample for the purpose of the layer of study in the Pre-School Education Department of the University of Aydın Adnan Menderes. In the study, the data collection tool was used as the "Sociodemographic Characteristics Form" and the "Social Gender Roles Attitude Scale" developed by Zeyneloğlu (2008). Identifying statistics were used in the analysis of data, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Walis tests. When the research findings were examined, it was found that there was no difference in the position of the teacher candidates in relation to the social gender roles until they began to university in terms of the place where they resided and the father's educational status variables, while there was a significant difference in terms of the gender, class and mother's educational status variables.
