Folk dance is a significant cultural element showing the traditional values of a society by conserving them, working on various subjects, benefiting from movements, rhythms, gestures and mimic in company with music and musical instruments, either in groups or individually. It can be stated that folk dance practices which are realized for university students will contribute notable gains in terms of cognitive, affective and kinesthetic manners. The willing young people at the similar ages and gathering for the same target are likely to be successful in a qualified working environment. So as to realize the targeted expectations, it is necessary to prepare good working conditions, ensuring the attendance of talented and willing students, maintaining the continuance of this attendance. After the studies are commenced, the basic factors influencing the success are the attitudes of student and teacher. It is required for the teacher to be competent in his field, relaxed in front of the society, live, energetic, motivate and incentive. Working with successful, willing and competent teachers is a must for folk dance studies. In todays education and training, competence of the teacher is of high importance as well as the readiness, tendency and skills of the student. Students performing folk dances acquire various gains of learning and sharing as of the first time of their study. That the students increase their self-confidence will contribute to their characteristic development, and that they enjoy their works will contribute their emotional development. Performing a work and becoming successful on it in society and sharing of these are all related to the concept of socializing. Taking part in various events performed in front of crowded groups can be defined as a socio-cultural success. In folk dance studies, that the students experience tgis process gradually can be assessed as a psycho-social matter. Students participating in folk dance studies interactively enjoy the success of their shows and taste the joy of their profession. While contributing to their physical development, the students performing folk dances support their spiritual developments, too. These students also contribute to the socio-cultural development of our country thanks to the cultural studies and events performed in society. This research is going to be conducted by assessing the survey results which is applied on the students participating the folk dance studies in the university within the scope of Head Office of Health, Culture and Sports, Marmara University. Further information acquired from various resources on the subject is going to be reflected on the notification using the descriptive research methods and techniques.
