Abstract:

This study aims to make a general assessment of the distribution of associations focused on the youth area in Turkey according to the youth population and the total number of associations. The legal and political reforms that Turkey has undertaken on behalf of civilisation in recent years have attracted the institutionalization of civil society. Turkey, which has a significant youth potential in terms of population and world countries, encourages youth to be organized with civil society organizations without marginalization. The promotion of youth policies, which began with the establishment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2012, has been an important factor in meeting youth and civil society organizations through various public institutions, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This study has shown that young people prefer the status of association in the civil society organization. The types of civil society organizations that require bureaucratic and financial power, such as the foundation and trade unions, have not shown diversity in the country’s youth-oriented area. About 15% of the population of Turkey (13 million people) has preferred the status of the association related to sport and sport, which is another activity category, instead of establishing a direct youth-oriented association on the activity of the youth group (15-24 years). In Turkey, the percentage of the total 982 (+/-) youth associations in the total of other associations are 0.95%, and the percentage of the total youth associations is 0.08% compared to the total youth population. As a result, in Turkey, there are approximately 13209 young people in a youth association. According to a survey conducted throughout Turkey, 2.5 percent of young people are members of a civil society organization. The figures show that the quantity of the young population and the policies aimed at increasing the quality of the associations in Turkey have not been placed on a perfectly appropriate ground.
