Özet:

Abstract The article seeks to present what has been built in the Postgraduate Program in Regional Development of the University of Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, specifically taking the appropriations of the mediation theory of Jesús Martín-Barbero for studies that involve communication phenomena and Development. It was decided to present a synthesis of the methodological path of oriented works, signaling to its theoretical interfaces. The article uses bibliographic research and presentation of case studies. The results point to the feasibility of the approximation between cultural studies and Regional Development references and to the effectiveness of the methodological protocols of the mediations elaborated by Martín-Barbero for the design of the researches that involve the cultural and communicational dimensions in the scope of Regional Development. And let us glimpse the future elaboration of a theoretical-methodological proposal systematized for these studies.
