Abstract:

The growing place and importance of English in education over the years has attracted the researchers’ attention to the subject of classical speech in English as a foreign language teaching classes. However, the number of work done in this area is quite small, while the number of work done in this area is quite small. In order to keep light on the new studies to be done and to show what kind of studies in literature in the local context, this study was created with the collection of research articles and theses written between 2010 and 2019 on classical speech in English as a second language in Turkey. In this context, a total of 24 theses and 27 research articles scaned from the National Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBIM), Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) and the National Thesis Center of the Higher Education Institution have been studied in terms of the year of publication, the number of authors, the research design, the method of data collection, the type of sampling, the method of data analysis, the subject studied and the resources used and the results are presented in terms of frequency and percentage. When the results were examined, there was a general increase in classical speech studies between 2012 and 2016 and there was a significant increase in the number of qualitative studies in which illustrative statistics were used compared to other types of studies. Therefore, the data collection tools in the type of interview and video recording are among the most commonly used. The majority of the studies were conducted with the participation of teachers and students at universities and the most studied subject was the conclusion that the system was changing.
