Abstract:

In recent years, due to the growth of e-commerce and increasing competition, the last kilometers of logistics activities are becoming increasingly complex and the costs associated with these activities are increasing. Therefore, shipping companies adopt alternative forms of delivery with the aim of reducing delivery costs and improving the quality of service. One of these alternatives is the delivery by means of a cargo automatic. Cargo machines provide a significant amount of savings from delivery costs while providing flexibility in terms of delivery time. However, cargo machines are set up in the city's central locations, leading to a high rental cost. In this context, the design of the cargo automatic network is an important problem of the choice of facility. In this study, a mathematical model for the problem of cargo automatic location selection was developed. With the proposed model, the place of five cargo machines to be installed in Izmir or Buca district has been determined. In addition, the recommended model has been analyzed for different parameters values. According to the results obtained from the analysis, the number of cargo automates to be established has a significant impact on the demand ratio received. In addition, the analysis results showed that changes in the capacity of the cargo automate and the discount system could significantly increase the demand received without a new cargo automate investment.
