Eighty three medical education programs are offered in our country. Department of Medical Education exists in 33 medical schools. Forty-seven medical schools have Clinical Skills Training Laboratory. Mastery learning is targeted in Clinical Skills Training Laboratory which means that each student achieve required mastery level at completion of training. However students may loose their competence in time if they do not re-study or apply the skill immediately after training. The aim of this study is to develop an e-learning module to teach some basic clinical skills in undergraduate medical education and to present basic characteristics of this module in terms of application. A project was developed to create and apply the module. First the project team prepared training guides for ten targeted skills of the project. Then, experienced professionals performed the skills under the guidance of training guides and their performances were recorded by digital cameras. Each stage of the skills in the guides was read by an external voice and digital sound files were obtained. All text, video and sound files were embeded into a user friendly software especially developed for the project. So it is possible for a user to learn how to perform a skill by reading, listening and watching. The e-learning module is accessible at www.onlinetipegitimi.com. In June 2012, a written document presenting the aim and content of the module was sent to Dean Offices of all medical schools in Turkey. All medical schools can access the content of the module free of charge. The unique requirement for each school is to assign a responsible faculty member to apply e-learning in user institution to collaborate with the project manager. The students will be able to use the e-learning material by entering their names and school numbers in addition to information about their institutions and phase of medical education. In this way, frequency of system use among students will be determined from log records. After training period in participant schools, throughout May and June 2013, an objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) will be performed to determine students’ clinical skill levels giving a score to each. At the end of 2012- 2013 academic year an OSCE will be performed in user institutions, a questionnaire will be delivered to the students who used the e-learning material to ask their opinions on and satisfaction with the system and process. Regarding the log records between September 2012-May 2013 frequency of system use among students will be determined. Finally the relation between frequency of use and OSCE scores and satisfaction levels will be analyzed.
