Blood pressure measurement is a required part of the physical examination and has widespread use in clinical practice. The correct measurement of blood pressure is important Bolander 1994, Brunner 1989, McAlister 2001 . In spite of various guidelines published by medical organizations such as WHO, AHA, BHS, the International Society of Hypertension and the US Joint National Committee, Turkish Cardiology Society TCS , there is confusion and indetermination among physicians, nurses and other hospital staff about blood pressure measurement El Bagir ve Ahmet 1997 . Research, Istanbul University, Istanbul and Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculties, Institute of Cardiology, second-fourth grade students of Istanbul University Florence Nightingale Advanced Nursing School which has been planned to provide the main aim about measure method of indirect arteries blood pressure to evaluate oriented towards; theoretical and application knowledges as a defined by nurses. The data of the study was based on the characteristics of participants and their knowledge and skill evaluated by on interview form prepared by the researcher in accordance to the literature. The data was analyzed at the SPSS packet programme with statistic frequency additions, percentage values and ambiguous meaningful Ki-kare test. Theoretical and application knowledge of nurses on indirect arterial blood pressure measurement was found to be insufficient. When educational status was taken into consideration it was found that advanced nursing school graduates 53,3% were more informed then nursing school graduates 26,7% p=0,05 . The study showed that both second and fourth-grade nursing students were more informed then licensed nurses and fourth-grade students had better oriented towards; theoretical and application knowledges and second-grade students. So to sum up, knowledge of nurses about measure of blood pressure may be told insufficient to prevent the fault at the side of the application of the procedures
