Aim: This study was carried out to determine the nursing and midwifery students' state of liking of children, effects of the Child Health and Disease Nursing Lesson on the state of liking of children and the factors affecting. Method: This descriptive study was conducted with 99 students receiving the Child Health and Disease Nursing Lesson in the academic year 2010 and 2011. Data was collected by "The Data Form" and "the Barnett Liking of Children Scale (BLCS)''. Results: The mean age of the students was 21.29 ± 1.24, 57.6% were midwifery and 42.4% were nursing students. Of the students 58.6% wanted to work at paediatric clinics after graduation. It was found out that the students’ scores from the scale before and after attending the Child Health and Disease Nursing Lesson were, respectively, 82.09±14.07 and 82.35±14.90, there was no statistically significant difference between the scores. It was found that states of the students, such as gender, having a sibling, childhood stage, willingness to have children and work at paediatric clinics, affected the students' levels of liking of children (p <0.05). Conclusion: It was figured out that nursing and midwifery students' state of liking of children was high and this situation was not affected by the Child Health and Disease Nursing Lesson.
