Abstract:

The subject of this study is four Apollo votive statuettes from the Roman Imperial Period, which are in the Afyon Museum. The statues reflect the typology of Apollo Daphnephoros and Apollo Kitharoidos. A typological, stylistic and iconographic evaluation of four Apollo statues exhibited in the Afyon Museum has been made. As a result of these stylistic comparisons, it shows that the figurines were made in the second half of the A.D. 2.nd century. When these statuettes are evaluated in terms of quality and quality; also, since there are similarities in terms of style and workmanship, it is seen that there are statuettes belonging to Dokimeon workshop. Apollon has an important place of worship in Afyon. The statuettes show the existence of local sanctuaries in thecity. In the light of the evaluations of the figurines, it is seen that there is a belief structure and votive culture belonging to Apollo in the settlement.
