Abstract:

Fairy tale is one of the folk literature genres that has an important place in the Turkish oral tradition and best reflects the vocabulary of the Turkish language. When it comes to the vocabulary of Turkish, which is a deep-rooted and rich language, the first thing that comes to mind is proverbs, idioms, reduplications, etc. income. Therefore, they form the main data source of vocabulary studies. The aim of this study is to present a semantic view of the reduplications in the fairy tales compiled by Pertev Naili Boratav. For this purpose, qualitative research approach was adopted in the study and document analysis was applied. The tales in question were scanned in the context of reduplications and the utterances in which the reduplications occurred were recorded with page and line numbers. All the data recorded as a result of the scan were not presented in the findings because it did not increase the volume of the study. The recorded data were analyzed in line with the classification in which Vecihe Hatipoğlu dealt with reduplications in terms of meaning in her work titled " Reduplications in Turkish Language". The reduplications in the classification in question; reinforcing the meaning, strengthening the meaning, exaggerating the meaning, multiplying the meaning and facilitating the meaning. In this study, the data were analyzed based on these titles and interpreted by supporting them with direct quotations. As a result of the study, it has been seen that reduplications are frequently used in fairy tales and that these reduplications strengthen the narration by adding different meaning values.
