İnsanlığın tarihi kadar eski olduğu düşünülen göç olgusu, birçok akademisyen tarafından ekonomik, sosyal, kültürel ve siyasal boyutlarıyla değerlendirilmektedir. Ne var ki, tüm bu boyutların ötesinde, onları tamamlayan ve/veya onları etkileyen bir başka boyut daha vardır: sosyal psikolojik boyut. Göç çalışmalarında göçün sosyal psikolojik boyutları çok uzun bir süre ihmal edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı göçün ihmal edilen sosyal psikolojik boyutlarını ön plana çıkartmaktır. Sosyal psikoloji, bireyin davranışını ne kendi tekilliği içerisinde ne de toplumsal kolektif içerisinde inceler; davranışı grup dinamiği içerisinde gözlemler ve analiz eder. Tutum, önyargı, kalıpyargı, gruba uyma ve sosyal etki sosyal psikolojinin temel çalışma alanlarıdır. Sözü edilen temel alanlar; dayanışma, kabullenme, ikna olma gibi olumlu tutumları; ötekileştirme, görmezden gelme, inkâr etme, değersizleştirme gibi olumsuz tutumların incelenmesi ve araştırılmasına olanak sağlarlar. Bu tür olumlu ve olumsuz tutumlar göç ve göçmen davranışlarının anlaşılması ve anlamlandırılması için son derece önemlidir. Sosyal psikolojik analizlerin göç ve göçmen davranışları üzerinde çalışan farklı disiplinlerindeki araştırmacılara hem metodolojik hem de kavramsal çerçeve sunacağı umulmaktadır.
The immigration phenomenon, which is thought to be as ancient as the history of mankind, is assessed by many academics in their economic, social, cultural and political dimensions. However, beyond all these dimensions, there is another dimension that complements them and/or affects them: the social psychological dimension. The social psychological dimensions of immigration have been ignored for a long time. The aim of this study is to highlight the neglected social psychological dimensions of migration. Social psychology studies the behavior of an individual neither within his own unity nor within the collective society; observes and analyses the behavior within the group dynamics. Attitude, prejudice, modeling, conformity to the group and social influence are the core fields of social psychology. The main fields; positive attitudes such as tolerance, acceptance, conviction; allow for the study and investigation of negative attitudes such as selfishment, neglect, denial, disvalidation. Such positive and negative attitudes are extremely important for the understanding and understanding of immigration and immigrant behavior. It is hoped that social psychological analyses will provide researchers in different disciplines working on immigration and immigrant behavior with both a methodological and conceptual framework.
