The medieval age for west is an unpleasant period for the lives of children as is the case with many other aspects. During the period, children were considered as younger adults and expected to have grown at very early ages. With the inadequate understanding of medicine of the period, many of the children with weak immune systems were dying before the age of five, while only two third of them could reach up to the age of twenty. In this period when a great discrimination between genders had been experienced, girls engaged in housework, while boys had been working in farms, with artisans or prefer to be soldiers or step into a religious life. Another dilemma faced by children was early marriages. While the age of marriage was fourteen for boys, it was twelve for girls. These marriages at these ages when they could considered as children used to arise from an agreement and bring along a series of birth and child deaths as well. Ultimately, children living in the Middle Ages were the community of younger adults living with a series of restrictions differently from today’s children.
