Basics of the study: German is predict studied as second foreign language in Anatolian high schools. Teachers face many problems in teaching of german. The sources of these problems are teaching program, school management, physical situation of the school, materials and insufficiency of profession. The problems should be eliminated or minimized by taking the ideas which are related to these problems of German teachers. Aim of the study: The purpose of this study is to determine the expectations of German language teachers for an effective German language teaching. Data resources: In order to reach this goal, a questionnaire was prepared to understand the opinion of german language teachers regarding the education program, their colleagues and school directors, teacher training services, in-service trainings and textbooks. This questionnaire was applied to 110 german language teachers from 9 different cities of Turkey. Discussions and Conclusions: The German language teachers have good relations with each other and with school administration; they need in the different levels Germans stories, German movies and music CDs; and the classrooms need silence and simplicity for a motivation; they need in service training regarding foreign language teaching methods, prepare materials and German teaching with computer; and they believe that textbooks should be scrutinized regarding their content, order of the subjects, quality of the paper, visiual elements, reflecting the daily life and presentation. The findings indicated that teachers expected especially the class hours are to be increased and the characteristics of content and subjects are to be rearrenged. The findings also indicated that the uncufficient class hours, poverty of german language materials and negative attitudes of students
