Abstract:

The aim of this study Rize Turkey Olympic Preparation Centers to investigate the work of the athletes and to compare levels of exercise addiction in terms of variables. Working, Turkey 210 athletes who work their Olympic preparation centers participated as volunteers. The participants were administered a questionnaire questioning demographic characteristics and Exercise Dependence Scale-21. SPSS 26 statistical package program was used in the analysis of the data. In the tests, the t-test was used to determine the difference between gender and exercise dependence level, the one-way Anova test was used to determine the difference between the sports year, the number of weekly training and the level of exercise addiction from the sport branch. After the Anova test, Tukey test was used as a post-hoc analysis to determine between which groups the differences were. The significance level in the analyzes was determined as p<0,05. Eighteen athletes participating in the study were seen as asymptomatic, 177 as symptomatic, and 15 as exercise addicts. While a significant difference was observed in the sub-dimension levels of the exercise dependence scale in terms of gender, years of doing sports and the number of weekly training (p<0,05), there was no significant difference in terms of sports (p>0,05). As a result, it was observed that some of the athletes participating in our study were exercise addicts, while a large part of the study group was at risk of exercise addiction. In our study, it was determined that factors such as gender, exercise year and number of training were affected by exercise dependence. Considering that exercise addiction is as dangerous as other addiction types, it is necessary to focus on the factors affecting exercise addiction levels in our study.
