Abstract:

Intraabdominal adhesions are one of the common complications encountered in abdominopelvik surgery. The aim of this study is to identify the effectiveness of hyaluronic acid/carboxymethylcellulose (HA/KMS) barriers in the prevention of postoperative intraabdominal adhesions in rabbits. In the study, 14 new Zealand rabbits were used. After median laparatom, a serosal abrasion was created in the area of 2x2 cm2 in the sectum. The rabbits were divided into control and experiment groups. No treatment was applied to the incidents in the control group. The traumatized area in the experimental group was covered by a HA/KMS barrier of 3x3 cm2. The postoperative was implemented on the 14th day. Makroscopic assessments showed that the adhesive levels of the facts in the experiment group were statistically significantly lower than the control group (P<0.05). Histopathologically, the phenomena in the experimental group were low in fibrosis and inflammation rates compared to the control group (P<0.05). As a result, HA/KMS barriers have been found to be significantly effective in preventing postoperative intraabdominal adhesions in rabbits.
