Abstract:

The study was designed within the framework of the economic, social, physical and psychological problems experienced by individuals aged 65 and over, whom we can consider as an experienced generation, and within their methods of dealing with these problems. The question of how experienced generations who hold an important place among the demographic structure of the society have managed the process we are currently in based on their past experiences in the means of adapting to the changing social structure within the historical process is an important theme that seeks an answer in the study. Within the scope of the study, 10 women and 10 men were selected among different families, and interviews were conducted with a total of 20 participants aged 65 and over. The data of the study were obtained through a qualitative research technique that includes in-depth interviews. According to the findings of the study, individuals aged 65 and over stated that they had faced difficulties in maintaining a physically and mentally sustainable life during the epidemic, that while their physical activities decreased, they felt the psychological burden of loneliness more as they kept themselves away from social channels (kinship, neighbor relations, etc.), that their concerns about the future had increased as they had to cope with the fear of losing their relatives. From their point of view, this process will now trigger a reverse migration from the city to the rural and isolate people by moving away from each other physically and emotionally.
