Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the youth leadership characteristics of students who continue to university and self-esteem and self-confidence perceptions. The research is in the relational scan model. As a data collection tool, the scale of "Youth Leadership Characteristics", "Self-Respect" and "Self-Free" has been used. The universe of research consists of a total of 6322 university students studying at 7 faculty and 3 high schools at Siirt University’s bachelor’s level in the 2016-2017 academic year. There is no way to get sample in the research. The research was carried out on a total of 1295 bachelor students continuing to the university in the study university. In the analysis of the research data, SPSS and AMOS 22 programs were used. The relationship between the variables is calculated by path analysis. The study found that according to university students’ perceptions, they generally show good levels of youth leadership characteristics, have a high level of self-esteem, and the youth’s self-esteem is at a good level. As a result of the correlation analysis, it has been determined that students who continue to university have a meaningful relationship between youth leadership characteristics and self-respect and self-confidence in a positive direction and a medium level. The path analysis found that the youth leadership characteristics of students who go to the university increased both self-esteem and self-confidence. However, research has found that students who go to the university can increase their self-esteem as much as their self-esteem increases. It is also concluded that both self-esteem and youth leadership characteristics have a positive impact on youth’s self-esteem, and that youth leadership characteristics have a stronger influence on self-esteem than self-esteem.
