Abstract:

Article largest representative in Turkey, one of the types of crime Ahmet Ümit's most famous novel, "Snow Scent" is devoted to the analysis. First of all, the origin, development and most famous representatives of the detective genre are mentioned. Extensive information is given about the genre, its creators and works are discussed, and quotations are taken from the research of theoretical scholars and critics. There are different opinions about the origin of the detective genre. Critics therefore speculate as to who first created the genre and from what perspective they define it in their work. Although the species originated in the 19th century, it began to evolve from the Second World War. Detective genre was formed at a time when the concepts of logic and science were rapidly gaining ground in society. For this reason, the detective genre in the 19th century is accepted as a field that developed in parallel with industrialization and scientific and technological progress. Western literature has passed this stage in time and has come to the stage of modernization. The use of this genre in Turkish literature dates back to the 80s of the 20th century. The emergence of the kind of the Republic of Turkey is directly related to the socio-political process. Thus, rightleft conflicts affected the literature of the period and laid the foundation for the popularization of the crime genre. The work called "Snow Scent" examined in the article is one of the brightest examples of the genre. Sent to Moscow by the party of which he is a member, Ahmet Ümit has experienced events, the Soviet system, security service, etc. He told, interpreted the events in a literary language and transferred them to a book. In the article, the novel was examined in detail in literary, philosophical and historical terms, and the characters were analyzed.
