Abstract:

The aim of this study is to study the forecasts of psychological consultants on the ethical problems they experience in the field of psychological consulting and guidance and the ethical problems that may arise in the future. Delphi method is used to collect data. Starting from the first round, each round was evaluated. This assessment resulted in the creation of the next round questions, the data was collected in a total of three rounds. Publications were made on the psychological consulting and guidance pages through social media, the links of the surveys were sent to the volunteers via e-mail and the surveys were implemented via the Google form. The total number of participants was 52 and 62% of the participants were women and 38% were men. When the findings are examined, the topics that psychological consultants see as the most problem today have been out-of-the-country assignment, short-term training issues, multicultural counseling, competence and privacy. The ethical issues that psychological consultants think they will encounter in the future have been expressed as the title problems arising from short-term training, out-of-space appointments, multicultural counseling, competence, psychological counseling occupation failure and the complexity of ethical code. According to the findings, (a) the competence issues generated by non-space appointments and short-term training titles in the field of psychological counseling, (b) the multicultural counseling qualifications, (c) the importance of the definition of the psychological counseling profession and the law of mental health, and (d) the ethical codes that are long waiting to be revised. Furthermore, the issue of privacy continues to be an important ethical question in psychological consultancy has also taken place in this study.

The links of the questionnaires to the volunteers were sent via e-mail, and the questionnaires were implemented via the Google form. The total number of participants was 52, and 62% of the participants stated their gender as female and 38% male. When the results were examined, it was seen that psychological counselors considered the most problematic problems currently are giving permission to non-counselors to work as counselors, title problems related to short-term training, multicultural counseling, competency, and confidentiality. Among the ethical problem themes that the psychological counselors think they may encounter in the future are title problems related to short-term training, giving permission to non-counselors to work as counselors, multicultural counseling, competency, the lack of the branch of the psychological counseling profession, and confusion of ethical codes. In the light of the results, giving permission to work as counselors to non-counselors and using different titles after completing short-term training issues, competence problems, multicultural counseling competencies become one of the important needs in the field, the importance of the psychological counseling profession description and the mental health law, and the ethical codes waiting to be revised for a long time are discussed. In addition, this study has also taken place as the subject of confidentiality continues to be an important ethical dilemma in psychological counseling.
