Abstract:

Banks set a number of protective measures and credit allocation criteria when evaluating credit allocation processes. These criteria vary by sector. The purpose of this study is to determine the credit allocation criteria of banks to hotel businesses and to propose an allocation assessment model. The criteria were obtained as a result of the related literature research and face-to-face interviews with authorized persons working in bank credit allocation units. In our study, four main criteria and sub-criteria were proposed by banks to consider when allocating credit to hotel businesses. The main criteria are; The financial structure of the hotel business, its institutional and administrative structure, its sectoral structure and intelligence related to the hotel business. The significance levels of the criteria obtained were determined by the AHP (analytical hierarchy process) as a result of the information received from three experts who served as a manager in the credit allocation unit of a private bank. Considering the criteria and weights obtained for testing the model, the applications of 10 hotel companies that have requested credit are listed by the TOPSIS method. As a result of the analysis, the most important main criterion was determined as the financial structure criterion. The study is expected to contribute to the literature in terms of banks' credit allocation decisions and to fill the gap in the related literature.
