Purpose: In patients with healthy and systematic arterial hypertension, we intended to evaluate the changes in pupil diameter before and after phakoemulsification surgery with Scheimpflug-Placido Disk Topography (Sirius, CSO Inc.) Materials and methods: In this study, 75 healthy and 77 systemic arterial hypertension (HT) patients were taken to be planned for fakoemulsification. The pupil diameter (PCI) was measured by the combined Scheimpflug-Placido Disk Topography pupillometer before and 1 month after the surgery. The group’s pre-operative and postoperative pupil diameter values were compared. Results: Healthy group found significant changes in pre- and post-operative pupil diameter (5,13± 1,38 mm and 3,07± 0,52 mm respectively). by p < 0.05). The HT group found significant changes in pre- and post-operative pupil diameter (5.26±1.39 mm and 3.14±0.51 mm respectively). by p < 0.05). The impact values of CH change were found different in healthy and HT groups (1,48; 1,77 respectively). The result: after the Fakoemulsification, the PCI in two groups decreased. In HT patients, the exchange of PC is more observed than in healthy groups. This change will be important to be taken into account when refractive surgery is done in HT patients.
