Bu makalede sûfî irfânı ışığında İslâm kavramı ele alınmıştır. Bu konuyu ele almamızın nedeni, kavramın Kur’an ve Resulullah’ın (s.a.s) kavram haritasına uygun olmayan bir biçimde semantik bir daralma yaşandığını düşünmemizdir. Konu, esas alınan dilbilimsel yöntem ışığında Kur’an ve hadislerden seçilen referanslar ışığında incelenmiştir. Buna göre bütün Peygamberlerin tebliğ ettiği semavî dinin ortak adının İslâm olduğu üzerinde durulmuştur. Hz. Peygamber’e (s.a.s) verildiği söylenen “Cevâmiu’l-kelim” özelliğinin konu ile irtibatı sûfî irfânı üzerinden incelenmiştir. Kelimeleri toplayıcı olmasının, dindeki tekâmül yanında toplayıcı din mertebesi olduğu fikri de makalede işlenen konular arasındadır. Dinin anlaşılmasında Resulullah’ın (s.a.s) yeri konusu sûfî geleneğin yorumlarındaki semantik anlam genişlemesi üzerinden incelenmiştir.
