İnsan doğuştan ferdî bir varlık gibi görünse de aslında içinde bulunduğu toplum tarafından şekillenir ve o toplumun kendisine verdiği sıfatlarla var olur. Yıllarca toplumdan uzak, sarayda oturup şiir yazan bir fert olarak tahayyül ettirilen divan şairi de aslında toplumun içinde “sosyal bir varlık” olarak yer almıştır. İçinde bulunduğu ve bizzat tanıklık ettiği içtimaî hayatın bir ferdi olan divan şairinin de şiirlerinde bu hayatı aksettirmemesi düşünülemez. Özellikle Osmanlı İmparatorluğunu, imparatorluk yapan olayları, şiirin yumuşak ve zarif süzgecinden geçirerek kaleme alan divan şairi, kasidelerinde ve tarih kıt’alarında bir tarihçi gözüyle olmasa da bir şair gözüyle dönemine tanıklık etmiştir. Bazen ebcedle tarih düşürerek olayların kesin tarihini veren şairlerin, bazen de tarih vermeseler de tarihi bilinen olaylara ya da dönemlere şiirlerinde yer verdikleri görülmektedir. Bu şairlerden biri de Nev’î’dir. Nev’î, Dîvân’ında XVI. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında hükümdarlık yapan Kânûnî Sultan Süleymân, II. Selim, III. Murad, III. Mehmed ve bu padişahlar dönemi sadrazamlarından Ali Paşa, Sokullu Mehmed Paşa, Koca Sinan Paşa, Siyavuş Paşa, Osman Paşa, Damad İbrahim Paşa ve Cağala-zâde Sinan Paşa’ya kasideler sunmuş, şiirler yazmıştır. Şairin Dîvân’ında kronolojik olarak düzenlenmemiş olan bu kaside ve kıt’alarda, kesin tarihler de bulunmamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, tarihî kaynaklardan elde edilen bilgiler ışığında Nev’î’nin manzumeleri, padişahların saltanat dönemleri ve sadrazamların görev süreleri içinde kronolojik bir sıraya sokulmuş ve bu şiirlerden yola çıkılarak şairin yaşamış olduğu dönemde tanık olduğu olaylar, şairin bu olaylara bakışı ve tespit edilebildiği kadarıyla bu şiirlerin yazılmış olabileceği tarihler verilmeye çalışılmıştır.
Even though human seems to be an individual being from birth, human is actually shaped by the society human is in and exists with the adjectives that society gives him. For years, the divan poet, who was imagined as an individual sitting in the palace and writing poetry, actually took place in the society as a "social being". It is unthinkable that the divan poet, who is a member of the social life he lived in and witnessed personally, should not reflect this life in his poems. The divan poet, who written the events that made the Ottoman Empire an empire, through the soft and elegant filter of poetry, witnessed his period through the eyes of a poet, if not a historian, in his eulogies and historical stanzas. It is seen that the poets, who sometimes give the exact date of the events by chronogram with the abjad, sometimes include the events whose history is known in their poems, even if they do not give a date. One of these poets is Nev'î. In his Dîvân, Nev'î presented eulogies and wrote poems to Süleyman the Magnificent, Selim II, Murad III and Mehmed III, who ruled in the second half of the sixteenth century and Ali Pasha, Sokullu Mehmed Pasha, Koca Sinan Pasha, Siyavuş Pasha, Osman Pasha, Damad İbrahim Pasha and Cağala-zâde Sinan Pasha, who were the grand viziers and other rulers of these sultans period. There are no definite dates in these eulogies and stanzas, which are not arranged chronologically in the poet's Divan. In this study, in the light of the information obtained from historical sources, Nev'î's poems were put in a chronological order during the reigns of the sultans and the terms of office of the grand viziers, and based on these poems, the events that the poet witnessed during his lifetime, the poet's view of these events and, as far as can be determined, these poems. It has been tried to give the dates when the poems could have been written.
