Abstract:

There are many studies in the literature comparing the financial performances of financial institutions. Various multi-dimensional decision methods continue to be employed to determine which method is or may be most suitable for which company or industry. The purpose of this study is not to determine which method is best suited for sorting the financial performance of portfolio management companies. The study reveals that portfolio management companies serving in capital markets in Turkey from 2016 to 2020 can produce alternative sequences based on TOPSIS, MULTIMOORA, ARAS and VIKOR multi-criterion decision methods, and emphasizes the reasons for differing rankings. The number of studies on portfolio management companies and multi-scale decision-making methods is limited. We think that the study results, will create awareness in the context of the alternative performance ranking and evaluation in the investment decisions of the decision-makers. The conclusion reached by the study shows that similar rankings can be formed in multiple decision-making methods as in the İŞ portfolio company, and completely different rankings can be made in 14 portfolio companies. It is ascertained that the factors that cause the performance ranking differences in portfolio management companies are related to the scale, equity, asset size, niche area in which they provide services, profitability and portfolio size. The study reveals that different rankings are not coincidences.
